Like it or lump it, we need fear. Fear can cripple you or it can catapult you tothe new heights beyond your wildest dreams.
The thing about fear is that the more you run from it, the more it will run after you. I’m an advocate for becoming FEARLESS.
This doesn’t mean the absence of fear but rather LESS fear.
This way you can still experience some fear but it doesn’t stop you doing your thing in this adventure called life.
“Everything you want is on the other side of fear”
Jack Canfield
So if you really want what you say you want, then there’s a fair chance you will encounter fear along the way…… so you might as well make friends with it! Why? IT WILL HELP YOU GROW. Why is growth so important? Because it’s a human need. Every time you conquer or overcome a fear you grow on so many levels. It shatters those limitations that were once held in the mind. It opens the doors for new thoughts, new feelings and new actions, perhaps ones that were never even conceived of before. Not all fears are made equal. Some may be completely paralaysing while others may be just uncomfortable. They are fears nonetheless and if they are stopping you from following your dreams and goals, then it might be time to sit down and get to know fear… intimately! There are many ways to overcome fear, butI’d like to share one method that has helped transform my own relationship with the once three- eyed green monster that was fear. You can do this by yourself or with a trusted friend. Write or speak the following: What is your/my fear? Write or speak the answer. If you’re doing it on your own, write ‘thank you’. If you’re doing it with a partner, get them to say ‘thank you’. You can repeat this for as long as you want, but I suggest starting with 5-10 minutes. If you’re doing this exercise on your own, tear up the paper and go about your day! Have fun with this and remember the answers are not important. They are not there to be analysed, questioned or dissected, but simply acknowledged. Fear can be the fuel to your continued fulfillment and success… once you befriend it, that is.
